RuralMED Mobility partners are launching seven pilot activities to test sustainable transport solutions in rural Mediterranean areas. These investments, focusing on electromobility and Mobility as a Service (MaaS), will be monitored throughout the project.

Five of the seven pilot initiatives are based on MaaS solutions, which include new charging stations, electric vehicles (EV) available for renting and other shared transport services open to all citizens. These actions are planned in underserved regions of Portugal, Spain, Italy, Croatia and Greece.

Slovenia and Bulgaria will host the remaining two pilots, focused exclusively on electromobility. These will involve new EV charging infrastructure accessible to the public, aimed at promoting the adoption of electric mobility in these regions.

A testing platform developed by the project will monitor all these pilots. The data collected will be used to facilitate the decision-making process by the local and regional authorities. They could make policy frameworks and new strategies based on the results of the activities.

Additionally, these initiatives could benefit the rural municipalities involved by improving their connectivity to urban areas and enhancing climate-friendly tourism.

RuralMED Mobility project gathers 13 European partners with the aim of adopting electric mobility in underserved rural mediterranean areas. The project is co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg Euro-MED Programme.
