The Region of Western Macedonia hosted on 20 November 2025 a training workshop for municipal and regional staff, organised by the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) and the Regional Development Fund of Western Macedonia (RDFWM) as part of RuralMED Mobility’s Activity 4.2 – Training Programme for Public Staff.
The session provided participants with both fundamental and advanced knowledge on electric mobility, covering topics such as electric and hybrid vehicle types, high-voltage systems, battery technologies, safety practices, legislation, funding tools and technical considerations for deploying charging infrastructure. The training material was developed by CERTH together with external experts from INNORA.
The workshop also explored planning strategies at municipal and regional level, including how to integrate EV infrastructure into local mobility strategies and plans, coordinate actions across municipalities, and support citizens in the transition toward clean mobility.
After the presentations, participants engaged in an open discussion on the mobility needs of Western Macedonia, highlighting the importance of coordinated planning, citizen information and cooperation with grid operators, private stakeholders and national authorities. The workshop concluded with a hands-on demonstration of an operational charging station and electric vehicle installed at the RDFWM premises.
This activity represents an important milestone for RuralMED Mobility, strengthening local administrative capacity to design and manage sustainable mobility solutions in rural and remote areas. All training material will be available through the Euro-MED Academy, supporting wider dissemination across Mediterranean territories.
