On Monday 3 November 2025, Consorzio Oltrepò Mantovano, together with the Municipality of Suzzara, officially inaugurated a new sustainable mobility service: a free electric car-sharing system available to all local residents.
This initiative, developed within the framework of the RuralMED Mobility project, cofunded by the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, and aligned with the municipality’s policies on ecological transition and smart mobility, offers citizens the possibility to use 100% electric vehicles for their daily trips. The service aims to reduce environmental impact, ease local traffic, and contribute to the reduction of polluting emissions.
An innovative service for local citizens
“With this project, we want to offer an innovative, convenient and zero-emission service”, said Alessandro Guastalli, Mayor of Suzzara. “The new electric car-sharing service, made possible thanks to the RuralMED Mobility project and the support of Consorzio Oltrepò Mantovano, represents a concrete step towards a more sustainable city that is attentive to the needs of its citizens”.
The service will be free of charge until the end of 2026. The new e-mobility station, located at Via Fratelli Montecchi 7, includes:

Two electric vehicles, available for hire by Suzzara residents

A pilot for future mobility in the region
“We are proud to be working with the Municipality of Suzzara to make electric mobility accessible to everyone,” said Carmelita Trentini, Director of Consorzio Oltrepò Mantovano. “The Suzzara e-mobility station represents a pilot project and a first step towards the transition to more sustainable mobility in the Oltrepò Mantovano area, with the aim of replicating electric car-sharing services in other associated municipalities as well.”
Consorzio Oltrepò Mantovano will continuously monitor the use of both the charging points and the vehicles. The collected data will feed the RuralMED Mobility ICT monitoring platform, helping assess Suzzara’s potential for the long-term deployment of electric mobility solutions.
