A monitoring platform to track pilots and support data-driven decisions

CIMNE - platform

The RuralMED Mobility project is making progress in one of its key areas: the development of an online monitoring platform to track the implementation of pilot actions and support decision-making in rural mobility.

The platform is being developed by project partner CIMNE – International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering. During the meeting in Slovenia, they reported that the tool is already connected to some of the project’s pilot sites and is currently collecting initial data. It will soon be fully operational and accessible to all project partners.

What data will be collected?

The platform is designed to centralise and organise essential information from the different pilot activities carried out within the framework of the project. This includes, among other data:

  • Number of charging sessions at charging stations
  • Charging times and duration
  • Days and times of vehicle use
  • Hours of operation for shared electric vehicles
  • Estimated amount of CO₂ emissions avoided thanks to the use of electric and shared mobility services

This information will provide a clear picture of how each pilot is performing in its local context and its impact on reducing the environmental footprint of transport in rural areas.

Supporting evidence-based decisions

The monitoring platform is more than just a technical tool. It is intended to support data-driven decisions by local and regional authorities. With reliable, real-time data on the performance of the pilots, decision-makers will be better equipped to evaluate the effectiveness of the solutions and identify areas for improvement.

The platform will not only be useful for the regions directly involved in the project, but will also serve as a reference for other territories interested in replicating the same solutions. By sharing insights and results, the project aims to foster broader adoption of effective rural mobility strategies across the Mediterranean and beyond.

Once fully connected to all pilots, the platform will become a central element of the project, helping to measure progress, assess impact, and ensure that the actions implemented deliver real benefits for communities across the Mediterranean.
