The RuralMED Mobility project continues moving forward with the implementation of its pilot actions across the Mediterranean region. In Bulgaria, the municipalities of Radnevo and Galabovo now have new electric vehicle charging stations fully operational, marking an important step towards the promotion of sustainable mobility in rural and underserved areas.
The deployment of this infrastructure has been coordinated by Stara Zagora Regional Economic Development Agency (SZ REDA) in collaboration with the municipalities of Radnevo and Galabovo within the framework of the RuralMED Mobility project. For many citizens in these territories, the lack of charging infrastructure has been one of the main barriers preventing the wider adoption of electric vehicles. The installation of these stations not only facilitates everyday mobility for EV users, but also helps create confidence in cleaner and more sustainable transport solutions.
Beyond the technical deployment itself, the pilot represents an important opportunity to support the transition towards low-emission mobility in areas traditionally linked to conventional energy systems. The new charging stations contribute to improving connectivity, encouraging innovation and making electric mobility more accessible for local communities.
Through RuralMED Mobility, project partners are testing practical solutions adapted to the needs of rural territories, combining infrastructure investments, local cooperation and knowledge exchange to foster sustainable transport systems across the Mediterranean.
The Bulgarian pilot is another example of how local and regional authorities can work together to bring tangible mobility solutions closer to citizens and promote the transition towards cleaner transport alternatives.
